Celtics Hit Bottom

February 10, 2007 The Celtics now have the worst record in the league. The Celtics 17th straight loss last night coupled with the Memphis win over the Wolves (our next opponent)moves the Celtics behind Memphis for the bottom spot.
It seems that the longer the streak of losses goes, the worse the team plays. In the beginning they were playing tough and playing hard and staying in games until the end. The last two games weren't even close. The biggest indication that the losing is getting to the players is that their shooting percentages have dropped dramatically. We shot 32% and 34% in the last two games and that was inflated by some easy baskets in garbage time when the game was out of reach and the opposing team stopped playing defense. Players who used to be good shooters are no longer hitting their shots.
Opposing teams are playing their best games of the season against us because no one wants to be the team that Boston beats. Players like Mikki Moore are having career nights against us. We need to get a win to stop this spiral into oblivion. I was hoping that Pierce's return would give the team an emotional lift and we could beat the also slumping Nets. But the Nets came out playing like it was the Playoffs and rolled over the Celtics who were mostly standing around waiting for Pierce to win it for them. Hopefully they can come out with more spunk against the Wolves and end this streak. But you know for sure that Ricky D. and Blount will do their best not to lose to the team that traded them. Even the draft doesn't look that appealing any more with rumors of Oden staying in school and history in the lottery not on our side. It's not easy being Green these days.
