Celtics face Seattle tonight in a match up of injury plagued teams. The Celtics are healthier than they have been in a long time with Wally, Perk, West and Kandi all returning from injury. Wally obviously came back too early because he shot 3 of 17 and had trouble putting his socks over swollen ankles after the game. Perk is still struggling to get his timing back and we have only seen Kandi for a brief stint against the Warriors where he was booed. West however played well in his last game and seems to have shaken off the injury. Pierce and Ratliff are the only two still on the can't play list. On the Sonics side, Rashard Lewis, Robert Swift and Danny Fortson are all out.
This is the final game with the short lived microfiber ball. Tomorrow we go back to the old leather ball. The Celtics are the only team playing back to back games and will be playing with the new ball tonight and the old ball tomorrow. Should be interesting to see the difference in play, if any. Hopefully it will help Perk with his free throws.
As one of the few people who will spend their New Year's Eve watching the game, I invite you to check out the play by play on Celtics Green. I am hoping that the Celtics will make New Year's resolutions to play better defense, go to inside more instead of settling for outside jumpers, pass the ball more instead of always dribbling, and most importantly, that Doc will resolve to give Powe, Rondo, Perk, and Green more minutes.
