Today, once again, most of the news consists of tributes to Red Auerbach. Here are the links for today.
Inside the Bay Area has an article about Leon Powe. Powe made quite an impression in the games he got to play in this preseason. Powe's performance underscores the point I make in the article below. Doc said he just didn't get the system. Could it be that Doc's system is way too complicated? Maybe if Doc would just institute a few simple plays and defensive sets, the players wouldn't find it so hard to pick them up. Powe has proved that he can play. Now Doc needs to keep it simple and let him go out and play basketball.
Jeff has an article on CelticsBlog on the new generation of Celtics fans who have never seen a championship in Boston. It's time to start a new dynasty and a new tradition of winning.
As the accolades and tributes continue to be written, the Celtics prepare to dedicate this season to Red. I hope this motivates them to play their very best every night out. Boston needs to be the surprise team of the league this season. Red deserves nothing less.
